Hickman Competes in Alabama State Championships

Riley Hickman continued his chase for the 2014 Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series title over the weekend with the Alabama State Championships at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama).
Thirty-nine Super Late Models converged on the oval for Saturday night's $4,000-to-win SAS program, and Riley locked into the main even via preliminary action before racing to a fourth place finish in the main event behind race winner, Shane Clanton, Mack McCarter and Clint Smith. Tom Maddox rounded out the top five finishers.

On Sunday afternoon the $4,000-to-win, Alabama State Championships finale was contested, and twenty-seven entries returned for battle. Hickman missed the transfer into the feature via qualifications, and had to run a b-main where he finished fourth. During the course of the 40 lapper, Hickman rocketed from his ninth row starting spot to land a runner-up finish behind race winner, Randy Weaver. Chris Madden, Shane Clanton and Chris Wilson completed the top five.

Riley continues to lead the latest SAS point’s standings. Complete results from the event and the latest series standings are available at www.SASDirt.com
