Hickman Enters Southern Nationals Event at Smoky Mtn.

Friday's scheduled ULTIMATE Late Model Series event at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) was nixed by rain. As a result the team traveled to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for a $5,300 event, which was sanctioned by the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series.
Twenty-seven entries converged on the oval, and Riley started his outing by timing in fourth in Group A during qualifications. Short of locking into the finale via time trials, Hickman had to run a b-main. In the b-main he looped his #R1 BIF Motorsports/Hickman Manufacturing Company/CVR/Phantom Racing Engine Super Late Model and couldn't regain a transfer position, forcing him to utilize a Series Provisional to lock into the 53 lap finale. In the feature Hickman advanced from his 22nd starting spot to finish fifteenth in the final rundown.

Saturday night's Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series program at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) also fell victim to Mother Nature. The team then made the trip to Tennessee National Raceway (Hohenwald, Tennessee) for an unsanctioned, $3,000-to-win to-win program. Hickman locked into the feature event via preliminary action and raced to second place finish behind race winner, Dane Dacus. Terry English, Mark Fields, and Daniel Miller rounded out the top five finishers. Complete results from the event can be found at www.RaceTN.com
