Hickman Posts Top 5 Finish in Southern Nationals Stop at Senoia

On Tuesday night Riley Hickman debuted in the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series for the $3,500-top prize at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee). Drawing 29 cars for the third stop of the tour, Hickman recorded the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group before charging to an 8-lap heat race victory. Rolling off 5th for the feature, Riley dropped two positions in the 35-lapper to place 7th. (Thomas Hendrickson photo)

Returning with the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series, Riley was one of 37 Super Late Models signed in at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) on Thursday evening. After traffic on the way to the track held him from making hot-laps, Hickman qualified fastest overall in his group locking him on the front row alongside Donald McIntosh for the feature. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, Donald landed a 5th place spot behind McIntosh, Brandon Overton, Shanon Buckingham, and Shane Clanton. (Chad Wells photo)

The following night brought 28 entries to Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Georgia) for the $5,300-to-win A-Main. Laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying, Riley earned the pole position for the main event. After building a comfortable lead in the opening laps, Hickman got caught behind a spinning car while distancing himself from the field which ended his night immediately. He was credited with an 18th place outing. (Brian McLeod photo)
