Hickman Wins in Andy Picklesimer Owned Super at Boyd's

Mother Nature threw Riley Hickman a curveball, and he turned it into his first win of 2019. After seeing his original plans washed away by Mother Nature, the Tennessee racer was asked to drive the Powell Motorsports No. R1 Andy Picklesimer Racing/ Longhorn Race Car/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. Hickman turned the opportunity into a feature win at Boyd’s Speedway.

“I had planned to run the Southern All Star event at Thunderhill Raceway Park, but rain forced them to postpone it,” Hickman recounted. “After the cancellation Jim Powell and Andy Picklesimer reached out to me and asked if I wanted to drive their car at Boyds Speedway. They even put some tape on the car to change the number from P1 to R1.

“Those guys gave me a great car, and I was able to get to the lead early and then the win. I greatly appreciate their generosity, and it was really cool to get them a win.”
After Mother Nature wiped out the Southern All Star Series sanctioned event at Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, Tennessee), Riley Hickman traveled to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Saturday night, where he was piloting the Powell Motorsports No. 1R Super Late Model entry. Laying down the second-fastest time overall in qualifying behind Cruz Skinner, Hickman earned the second-starting position for the A-Main.

Hickman vaulted to the lead on the second lap and never looked back. He picked up his first win of the year with Cruz Skinner, Heath Hindman, Jadon Frame, and Todd Hernandez completing the Top-5 finishers.
